my kayak, my self
After spending the day learning to maneuvre a kayak, my energy is zapped. It feels great!
I realize now what they mean when they say, "You don't ride your kayak. You wear it." It's true. That piece of fibre glass or plastic becomes an appendage, something you can control with subtle movements to get where you're going. I might even learn to do an eskimo roll someday.
And, of course, now I have to save up so I can buy a boat of my own (with a paddle tether and a "boob-friendly" PFD--they can hurt a little, or so I discovered).
Next stop: Level V rapids and dry suits! Or, maybe just the marsh at Point Pelee. ;>

Isn't that an incredible experience? The first time I paddled, I went for five hours (two or three were the plan) and my shoulders and back were so worked out that I could barely lift my arms the next day. I had never felt better, though. Maybe someday you'd like to visit my friend Laura in Sitka, Alaska and paddle with the sea lions ...
Alaska and sea lions?! I'm there!

Sounds like good fun...Alaska has to be an adventure...though you will have to decide when you wnat to be there...when there's sunshine 24/7 or when it's night 24/7.
Qiatly: No trip per se. Just a new skill (Aunt Elaine was interested and wanted a partner). So, voila! I learned to kayak.

QIATLY! QIATLY! Any plans to come down this way in the near future? Say, for the Celtic fest June 15-18?
